Georgie Smith and her husband Greg have removed the running of their RoomMate Cabins franchise from their house.

Georgie, who is also Head of Marketing & Communications for Coastguard New Zealand, also saw an opportunity during the Covid-19 lockdown.
“Coming home with an extra screen, a laptop, printer and my beloved post-its and sharpies, my mind was boggled at how I could continue to lead a team and be productive amongst the chaos with our little lads (2 and 4) and yet embrace the gift that was quality time together as a family because of isolation.”
Fast forward to 2021 and Georgie continues to work from home at least two days a week.
Tame X Barber
We were proud to see one of our RoomMate Cabins feature in the inspiring story of Tongan dad Tame Taufa on Tagata Pasifika recently. He is the man behind Tame X Barber, a barbershop based out of a RoomMate Cabin in front of his home in the far north town of Kaitaia.
He started his own business so he can be closer to his children, all while offering a service to men in the Far North.
“My kids have some difficulties and challenges, and I want to be there to help them go through it rather than being too busy at work.”
