Is it just me, or has there been an excessive amount of talk about New Years resolutions!
Maybe it's the whole 2020 thing - which sounds like we've arrived in the future!
Social Media has been choka full of resolutions - courses we can do, inspirational quotes, so many goals, things to achieve, mountains to climb...it can be exhausting thinking about them all!! And sometimes you just need to switch this all off - stop the chatter.
We all need some quiet space of our own:
- Time to think things through.
- Time to make plans.
- Time to achieve goals.
But there will be spaces in your home (your bedroom or lounge), your garden (even a bench outside), a park or green area down the street that you can escape to for some time out.
Be kind to yourself in the whirlwind of life and give yourself the gift of time.
We all need to time and space to think.
Our lives are getting incredibly busy and there's so much "noise" - not just talk and sound, but busy-ness in our lives, and so many demands on us.
Demands on our time, on our energy - and there sometimes never seems enough hours in the day to get everything done.
At the start of the year, we're full of fresh ideas and goals - but remember to always give time to yourself. Make sure if you're planning for 2020 that you plan to:
- Have a coffee or tea
- Go for a walk
- Read a book or a magazine
- Catch up with a friend
- Watch a movie or TV programme
- Have a massage or a soak in some hot pools
- Do a yoga or tai chi class
Whatever it is, make time for YOU.
Look after yourself.
As we head into this new decade make a commitment to look after yourself.
You've got a whole year ahead. It doesn't all need to be done in the first month.
Pace yourself and your work so you don't burn out.
Have rewards for when you achieve levels of success of jobs completed. You know you deserve it!
